Hi Justin,
Thanks for the reply. We eventually worked out the problem ourselves, in the
way you described.
I don't know whether the list accepts pdf's, but I added a schematic which
shows you how to migrate
a us StarCluster instance store AMI to a eu EBS AMI.
Maybe I can write a howto for us to eu migration, if you are interested,
because there were some minor issues:
I had to look for a suitable kernel and ramdisk (since they are zone-bound).
I also had to reconfigure the /etc/apt/sources.list in order to get access
to the ubuntu repositories in
the eu zone.
How do I join the list?
Here is my output with an EBS AMI :-)
Greetz,
Joachim

The cluster has been started and configured.
Login to the master node as root by running:
$ starcluster sshmaster smallcluster
or manually as sgeadmin:
$ ssh -i xxx.pem sgeadmin_at_xxx.amazonaws.com
When you are finished using the cluster, run:
$ starcluster stop smallcluster
to shutdown the cluster and stop paying for service

Onderwerp: Re: [Starcluster] Availability zone eu-west-1b
Hi Joachim,
By default, boto uses the us-east-1 region. You can change this by adding
the
following settings to your [aws info] section in ~/.starcluster/config :
[aws info]
...
aws_region_name=eu-west-1
aws_region_host=ec2.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com
I'm also considering allowing the EC2_URL environment variable to
overwrite the
region name/host settings used by StarCluster. This would avoid the region
problem for users who have setup the ec2 command line tools correctly
for other
regions.
Also, I'm not sure whether using EBS-backed instances will work with
StarCluster
or not. I seem to recall needing to launch them with another API
command that I
haven't added to StarCluster yet but I could be wrong. I'm very interested
in
hearing whether you're successful or not, and what your issues are.
Please keep
the list posted.
Hope that helps. By the way, would you mind joining the mailing list?
