Hey Matthew,

I suspect this is because you're not using a matching version of
IPython on your local machine. Which AMI are you using? Also, what is
the output of:

$ python -c 'import IPython; print IPython.__version__'

If you're using the 11.10 AMIs you will need to use IPython 0.12 for
the time being. The up and coming 12.04 AMIs will include IPython 0.13.
