problem with extending cluster templates

I seem to be unable to get extra cluster templates working. I am using 0.93.1 and I have a config file as generated from the help command and then updated with my login info so I can start a pretty standard "smallcluster". This works flawlessly.

The smallcluster is set to use 2 hosts and c1.medium instances

But I also have this in my config:

[cluster largecluster]
EXTENDS = smallcluster
CLUSTER_SIZE = 5
NODE_INSTANCE_TYPE = c1.xlarge

But when I use:

"starcluster start largecluster" I don't get any errors/warnings, but the new "largecluster" has all the characteristics of the "smallcluster". In other words, I can define the largecluster as extending smallcluster, but none of the other variables override the "smallcluster" settings.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I seem to be following both the config template as generated from help as well as the docs.
