Hi Jacob:
This is StarCluster … I didn't 'install' it, it gets installed by StarCluster when you start a cluster. Download the binary tar.gz from here:
http://gridscheduler.sourceforge.net/
The direct link to the download file is
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47200624/respin/ge2011.11.tar.gz
That gets un-tar-gz'ed to /opt/sge6-fresh, and then StarCluster handles the rest. There are no issues with it that I see. No errors, I can do whatever with 'qmon'.
I've e-mailed you the link to the .txt file anyway, even though it discusses upgrading a current StarCluster image, NOT installing OGS.
Cheers,
-Hugh

Hi Hugh,
Can you share the installation instructions of OGS so I can see if it fixes qmon In my system?
I hope the font issues were resolved.

Hi John:
The 12.04 and 10.04 AMIs are still 'current' (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases), although 10.04 is EOL next Spring, in case you didn't know, and would probably be a faster 'time to production' than building out the 14.04.
But if you actually need 14.04 for some reason, I've worked through the upgrade process with success. qmon works fine (StarCluster uses OGS, not SGE, which might help you), too, I just tested (I never use it though). Obviously, YMMV and all that. It's not been extensively tested, etc.
Let me know if you would like a peek at my preliminary 12.04 > 14.04 upgrade .txt file.

Hi John,
SGE qmon does not work on Ubuntu 14.04 - at least it did not work a couple of months ago. Here is a link to the open issue:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/505330/sun-grid-engine-qmon-not-working-on-ubuntu-14-04-lts
Other SGE components install, yet I could not test them since I use the qmon graphic user interface to configure.
If SGE is not stable, then I am unsure about starcluster that uses SGE. If anyone had success with this please do give tips to others.

Hi,
I know this subject has been bounced around before and perhaps I missed something, but has anyone managed to build 14.04 AMI's for starcluster? I have tried the upgrade process within Ubuntu but didn't have much luck and we're in a bit of a corner since we can no longer upgrade the 13.04 ami's.
Thanks,
John
