Error Mounting EBS Volume

The last few times I have launched small clusters (2-node T1.micro or
C1.medium) with a persistent EBS volume, attachment or mounting of the
volume has failed with the following error:

>>> Mounting EBS volume vol-b73f1dfd on /home/genomic-resources...
!!! ERROR - Error occured while running plugin
'starcluster.clustersetup.DefaultClusterSetup':
!!! ERROR - remote command 'source /etc/profile && mount
!!! ERROR - /home/genomic-resources' failed with status 32:
!!! ERROR - mount: you must specify the filesystem type

Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated!
